Hi, I am a practicing emergency physician, who branched out and gained experience in self publishing, small business operations , and pharmaceutical marketing as a medical strategist. Through these nonclinical experiences, I realized that medical professionals in general do not receive adequate, systematic training in written communication in a business setting. As modern healthcare takes on more and more aspects of business, healthcare professionals should have exposure to at least the fundamental aspects of written communication in a business setting. Without this exposure, the modern healthcare worker may find themselves at a disadvantage as modern healthcare continues to take on more aspects of business.
To fill this gap and share some of what I had learned, I wrote A Business Writing Toolkit For Healthcare Professionals. I designed it to be an entry level handbook that is a quick and easy introduction to business writing for healthcare professionals who are well trained in the clinical realm, but who have little formal exposure and training to business writing. The book will benefit healthcare professionals interested in growing their careers in management, consulting, and entrepreneurial ventures. The book itself illustrates fundamental principles of written communication via common examples of business writing such as resumes, CV’s, emails, and slide presentations.
