Child’s Best Interest

I am a board certified General and Child and Adolescent Psychiatrist who, after 20 years completing custody evaluations (now called parenting plan evaluations)  I now also provide custody consultations.   I assist clients in being emotionally and legally prepared to deal with the emotions that custody disputes bring up so that they can stop obsessing about their case and focus on their children’s best interests.  I provide a developmental perspective about the situation, help with documentation and organization of evidence, and support parents as they engage evaluators, judges, guardians ad litem, and other court agents to make sure their evidence and mindset are ready.  I also examine communications between the client and other parties, and help them figure out how and what to explain to their children as well. I provide on-call support for those who are experiencing difficulties with a high-conflict ex, so that they are not alone to cope with the distressing thoughts and feelings challenging interactions bring up.  I also review settlement agreements to ensure they are complete, and do not have ambiguities that can lead to further conflict and costs.  I have helped clients throughout the United States amplify their voice,  to ensure the best possible outcomes in family court with less distress and while saving them costly legal expenses.

I also use an Acceptance and Commitment Based intervention to help people who are ambivalent about important decisions in their life identify their values and ensure their choices are authentic to who they are.  This includes, but is not limited to whether a person  wants to work on their relationship or leave it, and those who are confused about he next best steps to take for their careers and professional lives.  Contact me here for more information:
